The Top Ten Mermaid Movies Ever

Most people have seen Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” animated movie. But there are several others which are absolutely excellent – classics. Here they are:

1. My top pick for a mermaid movie is “Splash”. Not only is it funny and the plot wonderful, but there is quite a bit of awesome footage of Daryl Hannah mermaiding in the ocean. We can’t get enough of that! Keep in mind that this is not a children’s movie. It was made in the ’80s, and for the most part it is okay for the family to watch. But there is a little bit of nudity (when the mermaid is walking into New York out of the ocean with nothing but her long hair to cover her) and there is some implication of what she and the Tom Hanks character are doing in the elevator, though nothing is shown. The movie is wonderful, with a great story and awesome mermaid footage and lots of laughs, as well as a great romance.

2. My second top choice is “The Secret of Roan Inish”. This is a safe, quiet movie the entire family can enjoy. It was made in Ireland, and as such is slower and quieter than most American movies. It is about a little Irish girl who moves to live with her grandparents. While there she unwittingly stumbles upon the mystery surrounding the island the family used to live on, called “Roan Inish” (Island of the Seals). As she slowly solves the mystery, she … Continue Reading ...

Table Tennis Terms You Should Know Today

Being good in doing something doesn’t just fall on you knowing the practical aspect which is key for most sports, but you need to know some theory like knowing terms that are related to that sport. This not only gives you that feeling of a professional player, but also helps you in understanding the rules of the game. As well as knowing your Table and Paddle, you should know these.

Anti-topspin – a rubber type that deactivates spin and speed, returning a “dead” ball

Backhand – a stroke done directly in front of the body, with the racket turned so that the back of the hand faces the opponent

Backspin – a type of spin where, if struck with a normal racket position, the ball would not make it over the net

Block – a defensive shot done mostly against loops and smashes, where the racket is in a closed position to keep the ball on the table

Chop – a defensive shot that carries a tremendous amount of backspin

Closed – a racket angle that allows the top of the ball to be struck

Dead ball – a ball returned without any spin. Very difficult to execute, read, and return

Doubles – a format in table tennis where two people play on each side and must alternate turns at striking the ball

Drive – an offensive shot used mostly as a setup or in rallies, where the racket is in a normal position and the ball is struck at … Continue Reading ...

Best Golf Lesson: How To Stay On Top Of Your Ball

The best golf lesson of late is learning how to stay on the top of your ball during your swing.

Unless you stay on top of your ball during your golf swing, you most likely will sway and shift the top of your spine angle. This will cause the arc of your swing to bottom-out at the wrong point and result in a mishit golf shot.

It is very interesting how the instructional community as well as professional players continue to change the description of simple golf mechanics.

The golf-swing instructions remain the same but the terms and nomenclature to describe different golf mechanics continue to change with each new generation of golf instructors, it seems.

They now have chosen to call this most important discipline: “staying on top of the ball”. “Staying on top of the ball” is required if you wish to hit straight golf shots.

It is a term used to describe how the top of the spine angle should remain stable during the back swing.

Perhaps the best way to describe this necessary discipline to hit a golf ball straight is to maintain eye contact with the ball from the beginning of the swing through contact with the ball.

Theoretically, if you maintain eye contact with your ball throughout your golf swing, you will not be able to move your head laterally away from your ball.

Another way to describe the swing thought of staying on top of the ball is nothing more than the historical … Continue Reading ...

Weather That Kills Cell Phone Signals

It is a known fact that weather conditions can affect the quality of calls you make. Extreme weather conditions have the power to affect your device’s performance. Some of the weather conditions that can adversely affect your signal reception are:

Heat
Extreme temperatures are not good for any cell. Extreme heat can disable your cell from picking up signals properly. The radio waves that make up the cell signals get distorted or often totally lost due to the extreme temperature. Very hot weather can even cause the battery to leak.

Quoting Motorola’s warning here, “A car’s internal temperature can exceed 80 degrees Celsius, and the temperature of a dashboard with direct exposure to the sun can exceed 120 degrees Celsius.”

The statement highlights how dangerous extreme heat is not just to the signals, but also to your cell phone. Make sure you keep it in a proper atmosphere – away from heat, fire, and direct sunlight.

Cold
If heat can affect your phone – so can cold. Through research, it has been proven that extreme cold can affect a cell phone’s ability to catch signals properly. It can also destroy its components and cause greater damage in the long run.

A study at the Environ Laboratories in Minneapolis showed the adverse affects that cold temperature can have on cell phones and their performance. According to the result, the screen started to dim at 10 degrees Fahrenheit. As the temperature started decreasing, the conditions only worsened. At minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit, … Continue Reading ...

Gemstone Therapy Today

For ages, gemstones have been used medicinally. Jade was thought to protect the kidneys, liver, spleen, and heart; beryl to cure eye injuries, and carnelian to purify the blood and relieve menstrual cramps. Yet the properties assigned to gems in the past tended to be general and ambiguous. No more. Today, gemstone therapy has evolved into an art and science, and a sophisticated energy medicine modality.

Gemstone therapy is based on gemstones in spherical form. The primary advantage of spheres over crystals is a sphere’s ability to radiate its energies in all directions. The body’s energy field is able to moderate how much of this energy it wants and can direct the energy where needed. This is impossible with a crystal, which points its energies in only one direction. Furthermore, when a sphere is cut from a crystal, it captures the finest essence of that crystal, leaving the dross behind.

Gemstone therapy began in 1987 when Isabelle Morton researched the missions and essential effects of gemstone spheres by intuitively communicating with the devas, or guardians, of individual healing stones. Back then, gemstone therapy was limited to wearing therapeutic-quality gemstone sphere necklaces to support physical and life issues, plus concerns that involve emotions, memory, and mind. A few techniques for placing necklaces on the body over ailing organs were also taught.

Today, many new applications for therapeutic gemstone necklaces are available, including special techniques for applying them in the aura. Gemstone therapy has also expanded into two more branches: single sphere … Continue Reading ...

Top Ten Hardest Sports in the World

We constantly find ourselves arguing about the most difficult sports in the world. Based on their own personal inabilities to participate in those sports, some people give their opinions. What they don’t understand is that the difficulty of any sport will depend on certain aspects like the strength, power, endurance, speed, flexibility, hand-eye coordination, and any other quality required in the sport. This article will include the top ten hardest sports in the world along with the qualities required for these games.

10. Alpine Skiing

This is a hard game where a person uses skis to move down the slope on the snow-covered hills. You need to know how to move down on the snow. Besides, you have to endure the chilling cold. In addition to this, Alpine Skiing requires perfect timing and a high degree of precision. Lack of any of these qualities may bring about disastrous results. Different researchers have revealed that 4 out of 1,000 players need medical attention.

9. Baseball

This is more of a mental sport- as it requires great eye-hand coordination. Moreover, the players need to be standby at any given time. The hitter has to track the movement of the ball, using his or her eyes. At times, it can be really difficult to follow the speed of the ball.
