The Women in Professional Bass Fishing Today – Where Are They?

I had surgery last week and couldn’t fish or drive, so I was working on the website and talking to some friends on Facebook while watching some live tournament coverage, and the subject of why we don’t see many women fishing in professional bass events came up.

It really made me think because I hadn’t paid as much attention to this as I should have.

I decided to contact some old friends in professional bass fishing both male and female and get their thoughts on it, and I think you’ll be surprised at what some of them said.

First, in case you weren’t aware it, women haven’t always been allowed to fish B.A.S.S. events.

The first woman to compete in a co-ed B.A.S.S. tournament was Vojai Reed. She fished the 1991 Missouri Invitational and finished 58th! not bad, but it wasn’t anything to indicate that women were going to win a lot of Bassmaster Angler of the Year awards or start taking home Bassmaster Classic trophies.

And as of 2018, they haven’t!

I had a tackle store, guide service, and a radio show at the very beginning of the internet.

I had been involved in the old Redman Tour where I met a lot of anglers who are fishing at a professional level today, and I had opened Bass Pro shops in Harrisburg, Pa where I did seminars for TTI Blackmore, allowing me to associate with a lot of professionals in bass fishing. I contacted Andre Moore, who had Reaction Innovations … Continue Reading ...

Hip Hop Today

Hip Hop is a religion; it’s a culture that millions of people around the world share the great sounds and bob their heads to the EmCee skills. From the early 80’s there was a mission from around the world to create a culture combining music, dance artistry and creativity where people would bob their heads and share a voice of self expression delivering a message with positive elements to surrounding groups. From here the sound was born and it has become huge around the world with many types of people gravitating toward the culture.

It has not always been clear skies though with a big diversity between commercial and Underground sounds. The messages we here today from the commercial side is completely diverse from the message the grandfathers of Hip Hop began in the 80’s. Today’s beat artists all sound the same and talk about the same things. Money, Cars and things like that. Sure they have the EmCee skills to deliver good lyrics and beats but there is something missing. There is no message, the positive message to the followers and fans that the underground Hip Hop culture was formed upon.

The grandfathers teach that too earn respect you must show your skills on the mic. You must be able to bring the house down with your sheer brilliance in using lyrics showing why you are doper than the next man after or before you. Having a DJ with an ability to support your performance with dope beats that … Continue Reading ...

Top Agents in Commercial Real Estate Today

Commercial real estate people today are of high value to the listing and marketing process when it comes to selling or renting property. They have far more local market knowledge and up to date information when it comes to marketing, negotiating, and closing. On that basis, they can achieve a far better result in the sale or a lease of property than the same property that could be marketed by the property owner themselves.

Those ‘for sale by owners’ that like to try the marketing and promotion process themselves, are now turning to agents in desperation to create enquiry, and to achieve a better marketing result for the property.

Unfortunately many of those owners may have significantly destroyed their market opportunity through incorrect marketing, poor pricing, and little regard for sending the right message out regards their property.

Top Agents Know the Rules

Top commercial agents understand how to work in these difficult times, and how to tap into the levels of enquiry that are currently available. Top agents have a significant database of current enquiry to use and optimize with quality listings. Property owners need that skill, and we can and should charge a good commission for that.

The best commercial real estate people understand the process of marketing and negotiating. Even in tough and slow market conditions, they can create interest, inspections, and offers. The property owner needs to be flexible and realistic regards current market conditions and levels of enquiry.

Here are some of the critical tasks … Continue Reading ...

Today’s Storage Container Features

Storage containers have come a long way from the 1830’s when they were mostly used to store coal. They were referred to as “loose boxes” and were made of wood. By the 1900’s, storage containers were made of iron and had a closed top design to enable better transportation between road, rail, and sea. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that it was realized unloading goods from trucks would be much more efficient if they could unload a container, then remove the goods. This enabled the truck to be unloaded and be on its way to pick up another load of goods in a fraction of the time it would have taken. In the 60 years since, the storage container has changed with the times.

During the first 20 years of containerization, there were no industry standards. This caused some incompatibility issues between the cargo container and the mode of transportation. Between 1968 and 1970, industry standards were created to alleviate any incompatibility issues.

Today’s shipping container can store anything from televisions to automobiles to perishable goods. The climate inside the shipping container can be manipulated to ensure the goods inside are safe from the elements. If you only need ventilation, intake vents will allow air flow into the container, and outtake vents will reduce excessive heat and humidity. Storage containers are weather resistant and in some cases, rust resistant.

Storage container companies are very innovative in container design and security. Tri-cam locking systems are tops in cargo container security. The … Continue Reading ...

Internet Publishing: Online Today, But What About Tomorrow Or Where Have You Gone, 406,302?

In the January, 2006 issue of Intellectual Property Today, attorneys Thomas J. Van Gilder and Carl A. Kukkonen cited to a document on the webpage of the United States Patent and Trademark Office [USPTO] for the proposition that “patent filings have grown from 353,394 to 406,302, an increase of nearly 15%, from FY 2002 to FY 2005.” In footnote 3 of their article, they carefully provided the page number of the document and the link to the document: See USPTO 2005 Annual Report at 61, http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/com/annual/2005/2005annualreport.pdf.
The interesting, and troubling, aspect about this is that one will not find in the cited document at the given link the number “406,302”.

The number 406,302 did not arise out of thin air. Intellectual Property Today had mentioned the number in its December 2005 issue: The agency received 406,302 patent applications, and
323,501 applications for trademark registration as reported in its fiscal year 2005 Performance and Accountability Report released in November.
The magazine eWeek had mentioned the number on January 16, 2006: Last year, the USPTO granted 165,485 patents, up from 99,000 in 1990. According to the patent office, a record 406,302 new applications were filed
last year alone.
On January 25, 2006, Bruce V. Bigelow of the San Diego Union-Tribune used it: In November, the patent office said it issued 165,485 patents in the fiscal year that ended in September — and had received 406,302 patent applications, along with 323,501 applications for trademark registration. Andy Holloway of Canadian Business used the … Continue Reading ...
