Chicago shootings: 56 men and women shot, 8 fatally in weekend gun violence
Fifty-six people today were shot, eight of them fatally, in citywide gun violence this weekend. Six of the wounded ended up 15 several years old or young.
The youngest homicide target, a 7-calendar year-outdated girl, was killed in a capturing Sunday afternoon that also wounded her more youthful sister.
Serenity Broughton, 7, and her 6-12 months-previous sister had been being positioned in the backseat of a motor vehicle by their mother when gunfire rang out about 2:50 p.m. in the 6200 block of West Grand Avenue, Chicago law enforcement explained.
The 7-calendar year-aged was shot in her chest and torso and pronounced useless at a healthcare facility, police said. Law enforcement mentioned her younger sister was “fighting for her life” at Loyola University Health-related Heart.
Other weekend homicides:
A 70-yr-outdated female was fatally shot early Monday in Hegewisch on the Far South Side. The woman was parked in her car or truck just immediately after 4:25 a.m. in the 13300 block of South Baltimore Avenue when two males approached and fired pictures, law enforcement reported. She was taken to Christ Health-related Centre in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced useless. Her name was not introduced.
A male was killed and a girl wounded in Chatham early Sunday when anyone opened fireplace at a team of people today. The capturing transpired just just before 2 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Saint Lawrence Avenue, police explained. The man, 33, was shot in the chest killed. The woman, 34, was shot
