Onslow County at odds in excess of financial development funds

The Onslow County Board of Commissioners is at odds with Jacksonville Onslow Financial Enhancement (JOED) soon after commissioners shot down a ask for from JOED to return $250,000 of donated financial advancement funds.

Commissioners Chairman Jack Vivid obtained a letter from JOED previous month requesting that the county return the cash right after the county bought a shell constructing at Burton Industrial Park. The constructing offered in February for $1.45 million, of which $1,232,500 will be paid out to the county over a seven-yr term.

“The grand whole that we have is $1.89 million that we have invested to make the shell making come to daily life in order to encourage JOED tasks,” explained County Manager Sharon Russell.

Construction of the developing commenced in 2016. The county donated land and contributed grant funding from its economic advancement fund. JOED chipped in a quarter of a million dollars of funding, both with the purpose of attracting traders who can inject new careers and tax earnings into the nearby economic climate.
