The Women in Professional Bass Fishing Today – Where Are They?

I had surgery last week and couldn’t fish or drive, so I was working on the website and talking to some friends on Facebook while watching some live tournament coverage, and the subject of why we don’t see many women fishing in professional bass events came up.

It really made me think because I hadn’t paid as much attention to this as I should have.

I decided to contact some old friends in professional bass fishing both male and female and get their thoughts on it, and I think you’ll be surprised at what some of them said.

First, in case you weren’t aware it, women haven’t always been allowed to fish B.A.S.S. events.

The first woman to compete in a co-ed B.A.S.S. tournament was Vojai Reed. She fished the 1991 Missouri Invitational and finished 58th! not bad, but it wasn’t anything to indicate that women were going to win a lot of Bassmaster Angler of the Year awards or start taking home Bassmaster Classic trophies.

And as of 2018, they haven’t!

I had a tackle store, guide service, and a radio show at the very beginning of the internet.

I had been involved in the old Redman Tour where I met a lot of anglers who are fishing at a professional level today, and I had opened Bass Pro shops in Harrisburg, Pa where I did seminars for TTI Blackmore, allowing me to associate with a lot of professionals in bass fishing. I contacted Andre Moore, who had Reaction Innovations … Continue Reading ...

Top Reasons That Made English a Dominant Language

If you can speak English, you will probably be able to communicate with someone in just about any major country you could visit. While not everyone speaks this language, English is truly a dominant language spoken by millions across the globe. Experts state that around a third of the world’s population speaks English as their native language, and many more study it as a second language. What caused English to spread beyond the bounds of the British Isles and become such an important player in global communication? The answer begins with a look at the language’s original speakers, the English.

English Dominance in the 19th Century

In the 19th century the British Empire was truly a global empire. As some said at the time, “the sun never sets on the British Empire.” Great Britain held colonies on every continent, and the trade language in those areas was English. By the end of the 19th century, the British Empire’s reach was global, and the language was also becoming global. This influence continued into the 1900s, and by 1922 the British Empire had an influence over around 458 million people, close to a quarter of the world population of the time, which meant that knowing English was important.

The Rise of America as a Global Power

Even though it is a relatively young country in light of world history, the United States has become a global superpower, specifically after World War II. America has a hand in politics, economics, and culture around … Continue Reading ...

My Daily Battle With Faith

Walk by Faith not by Sight

Every morning I grab my coffee, turn on one of my favorite worship CD’s, open up The Word and wait upon the Lord. So few days ago I heard the Lord say “Don’t let what you can’t see keep you from my promised treasures that exist”.

“What”? I prayed. “Lord I do have faith in what you have promised me.” As I prayed that the Lord brought to my memory the words I had been speaking to myself just a week earlier. I doubted the promise, I was giving up, even questioning the gift God gave me. I sit here in my mid 40’s and it still had not happened. I had lost my faith!

A friend of mine says that “Faith is taking God at His word! It’s that simple, Right?

Well it wasn’t for me. I know God placed this dream or treasure in my heart when I was a child. However, I still had not seen evidence of it; therefore, I doubted that it even existed.

The Lord showed me we are in a fierce war that is a continuous struggle for our faith. Satan is determined to destroy the faith of Gods beloved. The stronger your faith is the greater Satan’s attack will be against it.

When our faith is shaken, shattered or lost, we become weak and turn to the world for something we can make happen. Just as Abram and Sarai did, I absolutely love this story.

SAP Business One Integration highlights

SAP B1 has multiple tools to enable integration with your legacy system, eCommerce, etc. In this small article we would like to give you highlights on SAP Business One SDK integrations. These integrations require Microsoft Visual Studio.net C# or VB programming skills. Typical SAP BO integration would move customer orders to SAP B1 Sale Orders

o Staging Table. You need to move your eCommerce transactions to staging table, preferably in MS SQL Server, where SAP BO is hosted. Use stored procedure, if required you can do heterogeneous queries to pull transactions from Oracle, IBM Lotus Notes Domino or another db platform

o SAP BO SDK Loop. You should open connection to SAP BO company via SDK. We will not give you code sample here, we expect intermediate SDK coding experience. When connection is established – you read your staging table and create Sales Orders one by one – or alternatively you create one Sales Order and add items one-by-one

o Flagging Imported Transactions. In staging table you should either delete imported transaction or flag them as being imported, your choice

o AR Invoice. We do not recommend you to add invoice in integration. The reason is simple – invoice is not stored in the batch – it should be posted – and we do not recommend you to review posted invoices – in order to reverse them you will need to enter credit memos, which will create a mess in your data entry

o Other Integrations. SAP Business One SDK … Continue Reading ...

Drop Cloth Or Newspaper?

When painting a room some people go old fashioned by using old newspapers to cover the floor. This is the cheap man’s way when doing painting around the house. Besides being this a cheap of doing it, let’s look at it from a practical point of view as well as if this is actually the better way comparing it to using plastic drop cloth.

The advantages of using newspaper to cover the floor are easy to count. Newspaper is cheap and eventually you have it anyway if you subscribe to the daily paper of your home town. You can “borrow” some from friends and neighbors without the need paying for it, too. Newspaper absorbs liquids to a certain degree, too. A newspaper sheet covers a certain amount of floor and you just add additional layers on top of each other to reach maximum protection.

Disadvantages of using newspaper are easy to identify as well. Using newspapers when painting a room can lead to stains on the carpet as an example. No matter how many layers of newspaper you eventually put on top of each other, if you spill a can of paint it will most definitely leak through somewhere. Newspaper is dirty – just grab a few sheets of newspaper and then look at your fingers. In most cases your fingers will show black or grey color from the newspaper. Now imagine you cover an entire room with newspaper when painting and then walk over this several times. Then you … Continue Reading ...
